TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Gunung Kidul local government is trying out several spots in southern beach for new water-sports, especially snorkeling destination. Nglambor beach in Purwodadi Village, Gunung Kidul becomes the first to be tested.
“Nglambor owns excellent marine biota and beautiful coral reefs for tourists who like to snorkel,” said Eli Martono, the Promotion Section Head of Gunung Kidul Tourism and Culuture Agency.
However, Eli admitted that he is yet to open the new tourism package anytime soon since his side is studying from many different perspective to provide conveniences for tourists once it is opened for public.
The study done by the local government has so far indicated that Nglambor beach has potential for a snorkeling spot, but only up to 20-meter deep. Since the beach is less visited by tourists compared to other beaches along the southern part of the region, more Search and Rescue posts may need to be built.
