TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paragita Student Choir of the Universitas Indonesia (PSM UI) added more international achievement into their record by winning the second place in the 62nd Guido d’Arezzo International Poliphonic Choral Competition in Arezzo, Toscana Province, Italy. Paragita won the second place for the mixed choir category and third place for the vocal ensemble category.
Paragita PSM UI head coach Aning Katamsi said in a press release that the team had performed their best performance in the prestigious event. However, Paragita had to let the first place of the mixed choir category be taken by Oreya, a professional choir from Zhytomyr, Ukraine.
“The competition was quite tough because we were competing the skillful choirs," said Barkah Adji Kasyono, who led Paragita in their mixed choir performance.
The Guido d’Arezzo was held on August 28 to 31 and 16 choir groups from around the world took part in the event. Paragita UI became the only team representing Asian countries.
