TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) deputy secretary Hasto Kristiyanto said that Jokowi Transition Team was considering to increase fuel price during Jokowi’s term.
"We’re ready to be unpopular. Mr. Jokowi is a leader who takes bold decisions," said Hasto told Tempo yesterday.
However, Hasto refused to provide details on whether the option to increase fuel price was discussed in the meeting between President SBY and Jokowi in Bali.
"Increasing fuel price is not about saving or not, but it’s about boldness. We haven’t discussed with Mr. Jokowi. For now, we will respect whatever [President Susilo Bambang Yudhono] SBY decides. If the price is not increased, Mr. Jokowi is ready to issue that policy for the good of the nation and the state," said Hasto.
President SBY and Jokowi had a meeting yesterday to discuss fuel price hike.
Hasto said the meeting would discuss strategic matters such as President SBY’s experiences during his term, facing crises and transition process.
