TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Government of Bekasi is planning on building a water supply system (SPAM) on Cikeas River for the consumption of residents in Jatiasih and Pondok Gede Subdistrict. Each new SPAM is predicted to spend Rp400 billion budget.
Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi said the two additional SPAMs will become the main priority to increase PDAM (regional drinking water corporation) customers. "Importantly PDAM could add expansion capabilities and a broader customer reach," Rahmat told reporters yesterday.
The adding of SPAM is in line with PDAM Tirta Patriot’s plan to acquire the assets of PDAM Tirta Bhagasasi customers within the area of Bekasi. PDAM Tirta Bhagasasi is a water company built in joint venture by the City Government and the District of Bekasi, with a service area coverage in both areas.
The acquisition is done by separating the joint venture, where customer assets of Tirta Bhagasasi located in the area of Bekasi will be included in PDAM Tirta Patriot and customer assets in the District area of Bekasi becomes the absolute right of PDAM Bhagasasi as the Government of Bekasi’s ownership.
"If the assets exceeded the number of shares of the Government of Bekasi, it’s fine to buy it. Regarding SPAM Rawalumbu, Telukpucung, PDAM West Bekasi, Jatiasih and Pondokgede, if the managements are concentrated, our expansion will be great," Rahmat said.
PDAM Managing Director Tirta Patriot Hendi Irawan said several SPAMs will increase the number of production. SPAM Telukpucung will be added 200 liters per second, Mustika Jaya 300 liters per second and Jatibening 300 liters per second.
