TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Toyota Manufacturing Indonesia director I Made Dana Tangkas said Toyota is dominating 75 percent of Indonesia’s vehicle export market in the first half of 2014, based on the comparative data between Toyota and other carmakers in Indonesia.
Made said Toyota has exported 78,872 vehicles. “From the data by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo), 105,351 vehicles from various brands were exported in the first semester,” he said on Monday, adding that the rest 26,379 units or 25 percent were of Indonesian brands.
Made said the exports of 78,872 units are divided into several products consisting of 8,385 Kijang Innova, 27,886 Fortuner, 6,512 Vios and Yaris, 5,473 Agya, 21,668 Avanza, 559 Rush and 8,410 Town or Life Ace. “They were exported to 70 countries,” said Made.
Made explained the export destinations of the cars were varied. He added Indonesian-made Kijang Innova units were exported to multiple countries, including Thailand, Brunei and those in Latin America. The Fortuner is exported to Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the Philippines while the Avanza to Bahrain, Nepal and Lebanon.
Made said Toyota still aimed at jacking the figures despite the year's remarkable performance. “We are targeting 156,000 units by the end of the year,” said Made.
