TEMPO.CO, Balikpapan – The Balikpapan administration in East Kalimantan planned on founding another four city-run companies under its management.
Sri Soetantinah, the second assistant to the Balikpapan administration, said Monday the planned companies would later deal with electricity, traditional markets, the city’s cleanliness, and parking issues.
Sri said the administration would team with private parties to build the companies. She took for an example the establishment of the company handling electricity issues would be coordinated with electricity firm PT Kariangau Power.
She added the formation of the companies overseeing traditional markets and the parking sector was expected to boost the city’s revenue.
“It’s better to rely on our own companies, it turns out the chances are way bigger that way,” she said, adding the city administration had earmarked hundreds of billions of rupiahs for the four sectors.
Sri said the Balikpapan administration was now formulating the units, technical rules, and organizational structures of the planned companies. “Hopefully they could all be implemented in early 2015,” she said.
