Taiwan Companies to Invest in Industrial Sector

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Industry Alex Retraubun, said that a Taiwanese company, which is part of the Sino-Indonesia Cultural and Economic Association, is planning to invest in Indonesia in the near future. The potential investor is currently reviewing the facilities that can be provided by the government. "If they plan to invest in Indonesia, we can offer them facilities such as Tax Holiday," Alex said yesterday.
Some of the investors include CPC Corporation (petrochemicals), CTCI Corporation (construction), Shinfox Co. Ltd (electronics), Gallant Industries Co. Ltd (garment), King Sun Industry Co. Ltd (machinery), and Kenmec Mechanical Engineering Co. Ltd and Lih Shin Industrial Trading Co. Ltd (trade). However, the investors have not disclosed the value of their investment.
According to Alex, a few of them are interested to develop solar power components. Also, Shinfox Co. Ltd plans to build an industrial complex. The government, said Alex, has already given a recommendation for the location of the site.
Data from the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded that the value of investment realization from Taiwan has reached US$ 79,78 million from January to June 2014, with a total of 91 active investment projects. Meanwhile, in 2013, total investment from Taiwan was valued at US$ 402,6 million, lower than the number recorded in 2012 that reached US$ 646,9 million.
