OJK Warns Public of Ponzi Scheme Investment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kusumaningtuti S. Soetiono from the Financial Service Authority (OJK) has warned the public over the increasing offer of ponzi scheme investment offered by certain institutions, saying that not all institutions are included in OJK. "Not all financial institution are registered in the OJK," said Kusumaningtuti.
Financial services institutions acknowledged by OJK includes financial institutions in the banking, capital market, and insurance sectors. Other than the aforementioned institutions, other financial institutions listed by the OJK include retirement fund, financinf institutions, and the state-owned pawn shop (Pegadaian).
She also warned the public about the any investment institution that offers more than 10 percent profits. "Thirty percent reward per month is beyond normal," she said.
Kusuma later refered to the spreading trend of investment offer from the Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (MMM) that offers 30 percent of profits in less than two weeks. The information on the investment spreads in both Internet and social media.
MMM, literally translated in Bahasa Indonesia as Manusia Membantu Manusia (Humans Helping Humans), is a form of investment that offers 30 percent profits without having to do any trading or other financial activities.
