TEMPO.CO, Pemalang - Comal Bridge in Pemalang, Central Java has finally been available for two-way direction: East (Jakarta-Semarang) and West (Semarang-Jakarta). Previously, the bridge was only open from the East.
Commissioner Harsono of Pemalang Police told Tempo that traffic in Comal Bridge is relatively under control, with vehicles passing from both sides of the road. The police will apply open-close system when the traffic gets heavy.
Commissioner Davis Busin of Pemalang Police added that buses are now allowed to pass the bridge, alongside cars and motorbikes. However, large vehicles such as trucks and trailers are still diverted to southern route. "It is because the bridge is still at emergency repair status," he said.
Given that alternative routes in Pemalang are unavailable for big vehicles, Pemalang Police have made a coordination with Brebes, Tegal, and Semarang Police for traffic diversion. "Until this afternoon, the traffic is still at light. There is no significant traffic at Comal Bridge," he said.
