TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Stret vendors nearby the National Monument (Monas) are becoming uncontrollable. Jakarta Acting Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama, will take a decisive action towards stubborn merchants.
"I thought about the scenarios in the Animal Planet [channel]," he said at the City Hall, earlier today. That means Ahok wants the discipline to be performed personally to each merchant.
"Have you ever seen the Animal Planet? If a tiger wants to catch a deer, he never goes after them in a pack. He looks for the one on the side. Okay then, we'll do the same [tactic]," said Ahok.
Ahok said the civil service police force will discipline merchants one by one, meaning it would not be disciplined at once. "This is like a small boat, come up and loot one or two merchants, put them in a truck. Loot again, put one or two in a truck. Once it’s full, then we bring it to Cakung," said Ahok.
This will give some kind of terror to other stubborn street vendor merchants. "We will terror you if this is the way you do business," said Ahok.
