TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Youth and Sports Minister, Roy Suryo, has stepped in to remind the Jakarta Government to provide the land certificate of BMW Park in Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta. The park is an exchange for Lebak Bulus Stadium, South Jakarta that is to be demolished for the development of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).

"This issue had been directly reminded by the Minister about two months ago," said the ministry’s spokesman, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, to Tempo, yesterday.

However, they have not handed in the certificate, when in fact Gatot heard that the license for the 12-hectare land in BMW Park is already available. "We can’t just easily give a recommendation; people could think we were in cahoots with the Jakarta government."

As previously reported, the development in Lebak Bulus Stadium has not been carried out because they were waiting for the ministry’s letter of recommendation for the exchange. The replacement for the stadium, which is BMW Park, is still in the middle of land acquisition process. The Jakarta Government has cleared 12 hectares out of the 60-hectare land for the stadium construction.
