TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cadbury Indonesia guaranteed that its imported products have been certified as halal products by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). GolinHarris' account manager, Tasa Nurgraza Barley, who is also Cadbury Indonesia’s consultant, said the MUI had been supervising the production process of the imported chocolate products.
The statement was released as a response to the incident in Malaysia. The Malaysia’s health department announced on Tuesday that two of three tested Cadbury products contain pork DNA. The two products were Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond that will expire on November 13, 2014 and January 15, 2015.
According to Tasa, the MUI is supervising the factory, the raw materials and the production process of the products.
"We understand the importance of halal products for our consumers in Indonesia," Cadbury Indonesia stated in an email received by Tempo yesterday.
Cadbury Indonesia ensured that the two products, found containing pork DNA by Malaysia’s Health Department, were not imported to Indonesia.
