TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that all TransJakarta lanes were expected to be overlaid with concrete by the year 2015.
Lanes in three TransJakarta corridors are currently being overlaid with concrete. "We seek to prioritize TransJakarta [in order] to lure the public to use public transports,” Ahok said at the City Hall yesterday.
Ahok has instructed the Jakarta Public Works Agency to adopt a special technology for the resurfacing process.
"We are going to use concrete that can dry up in 7-10 hours," said Ahok, adding that it is hoped that the overlaying process can be done in the evening and ready to be used in the following morning.
The city government would use a special kind of concrete that can absorb water in order to minimize inundation during rainy days. "We’re going to use special concrete with pores so that water can penetrate," he said.
"Also, we hope that streets will not be damaged easily. We’re going to construct the separators at the same time," added the deputy governor.
The city government hoped that the process to overlay the lanes with concrete could be done through the faster e-catalogue system, instead of the conventional tender system.
"If we use the e-catalogue system, we only pay by using the volumes and the calculation is based per meter cubic," he said.
Even if the project has is done through an auction system, he hoped that those standards will be made as the requirements [for the tender]. Ahok will demand guarantees from the contractors, too. "We will ask for a 5-year guarantee. If the lanes are damaged, they have to be responsible to repair them."
