Garuda Indonesia Opens Surabaya-Jeddah Flight Route

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National carrier PT Garuda Indonesia has officially opened a direct flight from Surabaya, Indonesia to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The company said that the opening of the route is part of its effort to expand its network flight in the international routes.
Garuda Indonesia Marketing and Selling Director, Erik Meijer, said that with the opening of the new route, it would be easier for the passengers, especially from Surabaya and its surrounding areas, to go on Umrah pilgrimage.
"The passengers now do not have to fly to Jakarta first," Erik said in a press release, Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Surabaya–Jeddah route will be available four times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Garuda will use Boeing 7474-700 planes that can carry 454 passengers (21 passengers in the Business Class and 433 passengers in the Economy Class).
In the meantime, the flight will be served by GA 984 and depart from Surabaya at 06:40 local time and arrives in Jeddah at 13:00 local time. From Jeddah, the flight will be served by GA 985 and depart from Jeddah at 15:00 local time and arrives in Surabaya at 05:40 local time.
