TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Turkish government is still blocking YouTube after imposing ban several weeks ago. Groups of people have protested against the ban and made petition to return access as it was before. A Google spokesman said Google had launched a legal assault to Turkey's Constitutional Court to lift the block.
"It is obviously very disappointing that the censorship is still in effect," said the spokesman as reported by Engadget on Tuesday.
The company has not given more details on its move, but the spokesman said that both sides are battling in court.
Access to YouTube has been blocked after Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that social media had spread corruption issue allegedly involving him in a statement on Thursday.
Twitter was also blocked by Turkey, but was unblocked on April 3, 2014, after Constitutional Court decided to forbid the block because it violated the freedom of expression.
