TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A babysitter was found dead after she allegedly jumped off the 28th floor of Mediterania Apartment in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
Head of Public Relations Division of the Jakarta Police Com. Sr. Rikwanto, said the woman’s name is Cucu, 17, from Maleber, Kuningan, West Java, and the incident took place at around 8.30 a.m.
"Cucu and her fellow babysitter Lukiyani, 16, were questioned by their Filipino employer, Cherry Joy Leyson, 36, after her husband’s cellphone went missing," said Rikwanto, yesterday.
The two babysitters then took an oath with the Koran before two witnesses and said that they did not steal the cellphone. However, the cellphone was then found hidden on Cucu’s body.
Lukiyani then expressed her disappointment in Cucu, who later gave the cellphone to Cherry. Not long after, Lukiyani found that Cucu’s room was empty and she reported it to her employer.
Erwin, Cherry’s driver, reported to her that a woman had jumped into the parking area. The woman turned out to be Cucu.
Cucu’s body was then brought to Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital.
Kemayoran Police Chief, Commissioner Sagara said Cucu had allegedly committed suicide. However, the police could not decide whether Cucu ended her life after she was found stealing the cellphone. "We’re still questioning the witnesses," he said.
