TEMPO.CO, Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo said referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco wanted Barcelona to win and keep competing in the League this season.
Madrid on Monday must admit Barca’s 4-3 win. Mallenco gained exposure when he issued three penalties, one of them was for Madrid, and a red card for Sergio Ramos and seven yellow cards for both teams.
“We played against 12. It's always the same. They don't allow us. Maybe they wanted Barca back in the League,” said Ronaldo. “I don't want to leave this inside of me and I’m not looking for excuses, but the ref is not at the required level for a game like this. If Barca lost today they would have been out.“
The former Manchester United player claimed the Spanish League has conspired to keep Barcelona from falling behind Madrid and Atletico Madrid. If Barca is lost, it will fall behind Madrid and Atletico with each seven points and four points.
“After five years here, I understand how things work. [The media] has been here for many years more than me. I have never seen Real Madrid favoured by the referees,” he said. “I’m sure that no matter all this, we will win the League.”
