TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Traffics around Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, which was the location of the Great Indonesia Movement Party's (Gerindra) open campaign on Sunday, March 23, were packed. Twitter account @TMCPolda reported that there were traffic jams on a number of highways around Pejompongan and Slipi because many buses that were carrying campaigners parking around GBK.
Due to the campaign that was attended by Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and the party's presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, car free day areas from Semanggi to Senayan were finished at 09:00 am local time. However, car free day areas from Semanggi to the National Monument (Monas) were still as usual, finished at 11:00.
Police officers on Jalan S. Parman, West Jakarta, have fined a number of Gerindra campaigners who have violated traffic regulations. There were many campaigners driving open light trucks with passengers standing on the vehicles.
@TMCPoldaMEtro has also reported that dozens of campaigners' buses were parking on Jalan Gatot Subroto as a result the traffic around that area was packed.
