TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Microsoft founder Bill Gates praised Facebook’s acquisition on WhatsApp and called Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg “bold” and “aggressive”.
“It’s an example of how he’s an out-of-the-box thinker, he’s aggressive, I hope it works out for him–not everybody would’ve done it. I’ll say that for sure,” Gates said in an interview with This Week on Sunday.
The US$19-billion acquisition is considered by many as the biggest purchase in the tech industry.
“Fifty years ago, no 55-person company was bought for $19 billion. And that’s a good thing,” Gates said.
Zuckerberg said WhatsApp deserved that price as it is the most popular chatting app with more than 450 monthly average users.
