TEMPO.CO, Frankfurt - German carmaker Audi AG is gearing up to seize control of the luxury car market in 2014 with 17 new models—including the electric version of the Audi R8 sports car many said to be the worthy foe of BMW cars.
Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler said among the new models were the revamped versions of the Audi A3, the Audi TT, and a sub-compact variant of the Audi S1. Audi is also set to jack up sales in America and China, its largest sales contributors so far. “However, principally we will step up our distribution across the globe, including in Europe,” he said as quoted by Autonews.
Audi saw a total income of US$49.9 billion, or two percent higher year-on-year, which spurred it to develop new models and expand production. In the first couple of months of 2014 Audi has outsripped BMW in sales with 242,400 units, or 383 units more than its homeland rival.
