TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party treasurer Thomas Djiwandono said his party has reported their campaign funds amounted to Rp306 billion to the General Election Commission (KPU). Comprehensively, for the early campaign donations that ended in December, 2013, the party reported Rp184 billion.
"The campaign fund report on March 2, Gerindra reported Rp122 billion," Thomas said at the KPU office yesterday. The party has a special bank account for the campaign funds at Bank Mandiri. "The starting balance of our account was around Rp27 billion."
Seventy percent of the party’s legislative candidates with the total of 560 people, have reported the funds. The highest amount that a candidate spent was approximately Rp100 million. The funds are often utilized by the candidates for early promoting activities.
For the remaining 30 percent of the candidates that have not reported their funds, the party will continue to remind them. "They may be very busy in their respective electoral areas," said Thomas.
The application for campaign fund accounts has been closed yesterday. If they filed no report until then, according to the KPU’s regulation number 17 of 2013, candidates may be crossed out.
