TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Supporters of Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo for President claimed there have been political attempts using 'flood issue' to take down the Jakarta governor. According to Dadang Juliantara at the Jokowi National Secretariat, other presidential candidates do not wish Jokowi to join in the race this year. "They would use the issue of Jokowi's failing to cope with the flood, thus not stepping in the election," said Dadang.
He said the flood in Jakarta should be the responsibility of both the government and the governor of Jakarta. He defended Jokowi by saying the governor has been trying to manage the disastrous flood, yet earning lack of support from other regions and central government.
"The flood in Jakarta can only be resolved once Jokowi sits in presidential position," said Dadang, suggesting that Jokowi as a president can easily coordinate with other regions.
Moreover, Budi Arie Setiadi, the national coordinator of Pro-Jokowi Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle added that there has been a vicious attack against Jokowi. As a political figure, Budi said Jokowi is a target of political attack. However, he ensured that the community must have been wise enough to see Jokowi's effort to resolve the flood issue.
