TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works Ministry's Director of Water Resources Arie Setiadi Moerwanto said the ministry prioritizes Ciliwung-Cisadane tunnel project to prevent Cisadane river from flooding.
"Principally, we want to maximize existing infrasatructures in mitigating flood," Arie said on Monday, January 20, 2014.
The tunnel project, which is called shortcut tunnel, is an underground tunnel that connects Ciliwung and Cisadane rivers. This tunnel is 2.9 kilometers long and diameter of six meters.
Arie said that the ministry is currently assessing this tunnel project until all stakeholders agree with Ciliwung-Cisadane tunnel. "The project will begin after being approved by stakeholders," he said.
This tunnel project, Arie said, will also go through Public Works Ministry's water resources management recommendation team discussion. This team will consist of personnel from government representatives of 50 percent and the rest will be filled by stakeholders, such as NGOs and representatives from industry at the tunnel location.
