TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works Ministry stated funds for Ciliwung river normalization to reduce flood in Jakarta use multi-year contract. "There is budget allocation of course," the head of Ciliwung and Cisadane rivers' control office, Iskandar, told Tempo today.
The contract to work on Ciliwung River Tunnel through East Flood Kanal (KBT) was signed in December 19. The first phase of the work contract is worh Rp500 billion. Public Works Ministry has allocated Rp15 billion for supervision and construction management, and Rp30 billion for land release of 1,357 cubic meters. The budgets were obtained from 2013-2015 state budget multi-year contract.
Ciliwung River Tunnel will hopefully mitigate flood since it is able to flow water with capacity of minimum 60 cubic meters per second to KBT. The government transfers from of Ciliwung rivers' water by calculating KBT system capacity so that flood will not move to another area.
Ciliwung River Tunnel construction is divided into two phases. The first phase is 1.27-kilometer water tunner, while the second phase is inlet and outlet construction and Cipinang River normalization.
The construction location is at Jatinegara District, Bidara Cina Sub-district, Cipinang Cempedak Sub-district, and South Cipinang Sud-district. All are in East Jakarta. According to Public Works Ministry, Ciliwung River flood problem ishandled by the Jakarta Provincial Government every year.
