TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bon Jovi's music concerts were the highest-grossing concerts of 2013, leaving behind Beyoncé, Pink, Justin Bieber and Bruce Springsteen. According to Pollstar on December 30, 2013, Bon Jovi successfully grossed a whopping US$259.5 million from his concerts worldwide. This is a benchmark that even Beyonce, who grossed US$188.6 million from her Mrs. Carter world tour concert could not reach. In third and fourth places are Pink and Justin Bieber, with US$170.6 million and US$169 million, respectively.
The Legendary Musician Bruce Springsteen is fifth with the US$145.5 million from his concerts with the E Street Band. Springsteen even managed to beat young musicians such as Rihanna, Taylor Swift and One Direction.
According to Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni, there is a big difference between the musicians who made the top 10 list in 2013 compared to 2012. On the 2013 list are many new musicians whose careers are not even a decade old yet. While the top 10 of 2012 were still dominated by legendary names such as Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Coldplay, Elton John and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“This is a huge difference. In the past you are always going to wonder, 'who could replace the Eagles?' But nowadays, statistically speaking, that isn’t true anymore,” Michael Rapino, President and Executive Head of Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, told the Los Angeles Times.
