TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) stated the potential state loss in South Tangerang City and Banten Province medical equipment project is Rp132.3 billion. This number is from 77 projects in 2012-2013 budgets with total value of Rp407.7 billion. "These projects have yet to be audited by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK)," researcher from ICW, Firdaus Ilyas, said yesterday.
ICW calculated the potential state loss referring to the audit sampling by BPK in 2012 and 2013 budgets. According to Firdaus, out of 15 medical equipment projects in Banten and 14 projects in South Tangerang that have been audited by BPK, his agency found the average loss in 32.45 percent from each project value.
According to Firdaus, misappropriation modus happens in a form of bubbling own price estimation, fictive equipment procurement, false equipment (not according to specifications), and incomplete equipment procurement. "All the projects that have been audited by BPK are problematic," Firdaus said.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has determined Chaeri Wardana, Banten Governor Atut Chosiyah’s brother and South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany's husband, as a suspect in South Tangerang health equipment procurement case.
Regarding the South Tangerang health equipment corruption case, Airin's lawyer, Tubagus Sukatma, said his client has no idea about her husband’s involvement. "His subordinates are the ones who do the work," Sukatma said, adding his client does not supervise every health equipment tender in her region.
Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah has removed Banten Health Agency Chief Djadja Buddy Suhardja off of his position last Monday. Atut appointed Regional Public Administration Assistant, Mohammad Yanuar, as the Acting Chief of Health Agency. Yanuar confirmed about his appointment.
Djaja, who has been questioned by KPK in Banten health equipment corruption, was also dismissed as a civil servant, while his retirement will only arrive in June 1, 2015. When questioned by KPK, he openly explained about the 2012 health equipment mechanism. "I don’t know the reason why I was fired. I still coordinate and come to work," Djadja said.
