TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Transjakarta Management Body (BLU) Pargaulan Butarbutar said there has been a significant increase of 20,000 passengers every day since lane sterilization operation began.
Transjakarta passengers were only 300,000 to 320,000 people a day. "Now there are 330,000 to 355,000 people," Pargaulan said yesterday.
On average, bus can add one more travel route after lane sterilization. Travel time is also reduced. The most affected corridors are Pluit-Pinang Ranti and Lebak Bulus-Harmoni corridor. "We support this operation although fine implementation has not been maximum," he said.
Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said this condition will not last long. "Buses must be added so that passengers feel more comfortable."
Transjakarta currently has only 557 armadas and only 452 are in daily operation. The rest are in reparation or are not for daily use.
