TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Communication and Information warned people to be aware of cyber crimes. The Ministry's Head of Public Relation and Information Center, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, issued several tips to prevent cyber crimes that usually came in the form of data hacking:
1. Use data encryption (such as WPA2: Wi-Fi Protected Access 2, etc.) on the Local Area Network (LAN) at the office or house to prevent tapping and unauthorized access.
2. Smartphone users are suggested to always update their system operation, application and antivirus software to the latest version. When downloading a certain application, make sure that the site and provider is reliable.
3. Internet users are expected to be more careful when clicking unreliable websites.
4. Email users are suggested not to open suspicious email attachments or website link.
