TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During September 2013, the room occupancy rate of hotels in Yogyakarta reached 61.32 percent or increased by 8.81 percent compared to that of last month. Head of the Central Statistics Agency, Suryamin, said that the rise was triggered by rising visits of university students with their parents at the start of the semester.

"Those university students came with their parents so they stayed in hotels," said Suryamin in a press conference themed '2013 October Inflation and Economic Growth of the Third Quarter of 2013' at the Central Statistics Agency in Jakarta, Friday, November 1, 2013.

According to Suryamin, the added value of hotels affects the hotel output values and the national economy. On the whole, he added, the room occupancy rate of hotels in September 2013 in 23 provinces in the country reached 54.11 percent or equal to a 1.27 percent increase as opposed to that of last month. "Compared to August 2013, which was recorded at 50.33 percent, the occupancy rate rose by 3.58 points," he said.

In September this year, the highest room occupancy rate is recorded in Central Sulawesi Province (73.12 percent), Bali province (63.76 percent), and West Nusa Tenggara (63.07 percent). In the meantime, the lowest room occupancy rate is recorded in Bangka Belitung province (43.49 percent).
