TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Health Ministry (Ministry) discovered that nearly 70 percent of the latest HIV infection cases had attacked the working class people between the age of 25 to 49 years old.

"High mobility has lead them to a high-risk sex life," said the Head of Health Promotional Center at the Ministry Lily S. Sulistyowati.

Lily said that the spreading of HIV infection is mostly caused by a lack of knowledge on health services, including HIV and AIDS test and consultation.

"Adults experiencing HIV and AIDS often unwilling to take medical examination, which cause them to infect others," Lily said.

In the last five years, Lily claimed that the government has managed to supress HIV/AIDS infection from injection needle. However, HIV/AIDS transmission through unprotected sex has increased significantly. Moreover, HIV/AIDS infection on housewives also experiences an increase, causing children to face risks of HIV infection.
