TEMPO.CO, Riyadh - The Saudi Arabian government has arrested a dozen of women who insisted on driving despite warnings of facing punishment. A YouTube account posted more than 50 videos of women driving around Saudi cities including Riyadh.
Five women were arrested in Riyadh, three others were arrested in Ahsa, two in Damman, and two in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that bans women from driving. Although there are no specific laws banning female drivers, the government refused to issue driving licenses for women.
