PLN Hires New Zealand Auditor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned power company PLN has hired an audit company from New Zealand, Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM), to determine its tariffs for the electricity generated from geothermal power plants.
"[For] the plant construction we collaborate with Pertamina, with tariff provisions that have previously been agreed," said PLN President Director Nur Pamudji.
Nur Pamudji said that the deal was signed when PLN was still under the leadership of Dahlan Iskan. "At that time Mr. Dahlan signed a predetermined price," he said in Jakarta, Sunday, October 27.
Nur said that Pertamina previously requested a tariff hike for electricity generated from geothermal plants. The provisions of these changes could essentially be taken if the plants' construction were tendered. "That's why we asked for a team of independent auditors to determine whether or not the rate can be changed," said Nur Pamudji.
The audit results will first be reviewed by PLN and Pertamina. "Hopefully, we can meet an agreement for a new tariff based on the audit results," said Nur.
