TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of masked monkey owners in North Jakarta are requesting the Jakarta Administration to add compensation money from Rp1 million to Rp2 million for one monkey confiscation. Its compensation would be shared to make other businesses, considering they make a living in groups to the villages.
In North Jakarta, at least 15 masked monkey circus are still active. The owners would give the monkeys if they got additional compensation up to Rp1 million, like other monkey owners who met Jakarta Governor, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in Monas on Wednesday.
Fauzi, one of the monkey owners, admitted he still hides his monkey, and only want to be replaced with the same amount of his friends who receive Rp2 million in Monas, yesterday.
"We will give our monkey if the governor wants to add the compensation money up to Rp1 million," he exclaimed.
