Saudi Arabia Builds Indonesian Haj Pilgrim Center

  • TEMPO Interactive, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi:The Saudi Arabian government is currently building a 17 hectare integrated residential center especially for Indonesian haj pilgrims in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Minister of Religious Affairs Said Agiel Munawar made this statement at the Southeast Sulawesi governors office in Kendari on Tuesday (11/3). According to Munawar, the construction is being carried out due to complaints about accommodation from thousands of Indonesian haj pilgrims during their haj pilgrimage. The residential center will be ready for use starting from the haj season next year, said Munawar. Munawar added that the center comes as the result of cooperation between the Indonesian government and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to him, all the construction costs are borne by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but he declined to reveal the total costs of the center. (Dedy Kurniawan Tempo News Room)
