Tempo/Dian Triyuli Handoko

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Tranportation Authority refused the allegation saying the seemingly-cruel tire tube valve operation has no legal framework. Sunardi Sinaga, the Head of Operation Controlling Unit at the Agency, said it has three legal frameworks.

"The first is Law No. 22/2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation," said Sunardi. "Then there is City Ordinance No. 8/2007 on Public Order, and City Ordinance No 12/2003 on Traffic and Road, Train, River, Lake and Crossing transportation."

Sunardi said the three regulations authorize his agency to conduct tire tube valve operation. They clearly stand against illegal parking that often causes heavy traffic and takes up pedestrian space, Sunardi said. Therefore, he believes such operation would help enforce public order.
