TEMPO.CO, New York - Indonesia criticized the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) for constantly making harsh statements without taking any concrete actions in handling Rohingya minority in Myanmar.
Rohingya issue in Myanmar was discussed by OIC Foreign Ministers and Contact Group, including Indonesia, during the UN General Assembly at New York Headquarter, last Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said OIC must 'develop' its approach since the organization keeps making harsh statements. On the other hand, Indonesia emphasizes more on results.
"Indonesia is directly involved in communicating in the right and measured way with the government of Myanmar," Marty said at UN Headquarter, Tuesday.
Indonesia did not solely express its condolences to Rohingya, but also visited the site of conflict. Indonesia has also given advices for reconciliation and stopping the violence towards Rohingya to government of Myanmar and ensured their rights of citizenship.
