TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) has continued to voice its disapproval against the Miss World beauty pageant slated to take place in Bali. But FPI spokesperson Muchsin Alatas said the FPI would not use any force in rejecting the contest.

“We will be blamed if we force to cancel the event,” Muchsin said on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He said the FPI and the Islamic People’s Forum would continue to pressure the government and stage rallies against the contest.

Muchsin added the FPI would also lobby Bali lawmakers and governor to reject the contest, adding it was against the nation’s culture as a whole.

“Bali is part of Indonesia, so don’t think you can do such a thing here,” he enthused. Muchsin said he had yet to receive updates on the FUI’s latest stance against the contest but assured the FPI and FUI were soon to have talks to make a mutual stance.

The rejection against the 2013 Miss World beauty contest was part of the results of the FPI National Convention in late August. The FPI claimed the contest was both useless and wasteful.
