TEMPO.CO, Louisiana - Brent, a US chimpanzee brought US$10,000 home in Chimp Haven, northwest of Louisiana. Brent's painting won the top vote in the online art contest which was held by Humane Society America, setting aside five other primates in the contest.
Daily Mail quoted Brent's profile from Humane Society website yesterday. Brent has been living in Chimp Haven since 2006. The retired laboratory animal is now 37 years old and the oldest in Chimp Haven. He loves to 'laugh and play'. Brent paints only with his tongue. His unique approach and style, while a little unorthodox, results in beautiful pieces of art.
The contest Brent was participating was open for public. More than 27,000 people give their vote in the polling to select the winner. The second position after Brent is Cheetah, a chimpanzee from Save the Chimps animal sanctuary in Fort Pierce Florida, winning US$5,000. In the third place: Ripley from the Center for Great Apes Florida winning US$2500.
