TEMPO.CO, California - Sixpence None the Richer, an American band, wished Jakarta a happy anniversary when they were performing in the city during its 486th anniversary.
"You guys happy tonight? Today is the anniversary of Jakarta. Soon I am also celebrating my birthday haha...This song is for you," said Leigh Nash, the vocalist, when they were performing at IM3 Java Rockin' Land (JRL). The band presented their most popular song 'Kiss Me' for the anniversary. The excited audience sang when Matt Slocum started his guitar strumming on the song's intro.
Leigh Nash sang the songs beautifully. Compared to their previous style, Slocum's guitar strumming sounded quite different. This time it was more into a rock beat.
The band played some unpopular songs, but still sounded very typical such as "Melody of You" from the album from the year 2002 'Divine Discontent' and 'Radio', 'Be Ok', 'Safety Line' from their album 'Lost in Translation'.
"Good evening, Indonesia. I can not believe it took so long to get here. Thank you so much for coming," said Nash from the stage.
With her typical voice, Nash also performed one of her favorite song from Skeeter Davis, 'End of The World'.
The band performed more than 15 songs. 'There she goes' and 'Love' became the anti-climax at the end of their performance.
