TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said the 78 Indonesian migrant workers detained after the riot that broke out last Sunday at the Indonesian Consulate General’s office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will be sent back to the nation immediately. However, six Indonesian workers will remain there to undergo legal proceeding.
"They are being held at the Deportation Center," said Marty during a meeting with the Manpower Commission for the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
On June 9, a riot erupted after thousands of Indonesian migrant workers went to the Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah to gain exit visas. An Indonesian migrant worker named Marwah from Madura died from being trampled on by the stampede of hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers.
