TEMPO.CO, New York - Today’s strong line of storm moving in the mid Atlantic disrupted all flights around the zone, including flights from America. Nearly all major flight companies were affected. A massive number of flights had to be delayed or canceled due to the storm.
"According to flight-tracking service FlightStats, more than 900 flights had been canceled and 7,400 delayed," wrote USA Today on Friday. Nearly all of the canceled and delayed flights were announced in airports within the storm’s track.
At 18.50 US time (around 05.00 Indonesian local time), delays had been announced in airports in eight regions. It became even more a problem because the delays occurred in the busiest hours of the airports. According to US Federal Aviation Administration, the longest delay was three hours.
Delays were recorded at the airports of Newark Liberty, New York LaGuardia, Washington Reagan National, Washington Dulles, Philadelphia, New York JFK, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Baltimore/Washington.
According to FlightStats, New York LaGuardia airport was hit the hardest with 186 canceled flights. The record is immediately followed by Philadelphia (166 flights), Chicago O’Hare (148 flights), Newark (128 flights), Washington Reagan (84 flights), and Washington Dulles (77 flights).
