TEMPO.CO, California - Apple reportedly will design a new iPhone with a wider screen, different colors, and a significantly cheaper price. Reuters reported that the company was considering to equip the phone either with a 4,7 inch or a 5,7 inch screen. If Apple decides to execute the plan, the phone will be launched in 2014, and will be sold with only US$ 99 (around Rp 980,000).

Some other sources reported that the plan might change. The current plan is to launch the new iPhone simultaneously with the launching of iPhone 5S, which will have finger print censor. iPhone 5S will be sold at a cheaper price as it will use a plastic casing, and will come in five to six different colors.

Reuters said that Apple had asked Foxconn to assemble iPhone 5S, while the cheaper iPhone will be assembled by Pegatron.

Reuters further reported that the launching of the cheaper iPhone was the company’s effort to counter the Android-dominated market. Apple’s main competitor, Samsung, is currently flooding the market with its Galaxy series with a wide range of prices.
