TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pri Agung Rahmanto, of the Director Reforminer Institute, said the government should focus on developing renewable energy-related policies. Renewable energy policies, says Pri, have tended to vary and unfocused.
"It should be focused on one type of renewable energy development, instead of A, B, C. They resulted in nothing," he told Tempo, Thursday, June 6.
Some time ago, France stated that it would grant funds for the development of new and renewable energy in Indonesia. According to Pri, if the government already has a development policy to focus on, then the entire grant should be allocated to the project.
Energy grants, Pri said, must be allocated in large quantities for biofuel development program. "That way, there is cultivation of biofuel and biodiesel, which can create jobs," he said.
In a strategic partnership in the field of energy between the Indonesian and France, some possible cooperation includes the provision of training by the French--who have high technology. Several French companies have already invested in Indonesia's energy and mining sectors. Total E & P operates the Mahakam Block while Eramet invests in nickel mining.
