TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Muhammad Chatib Basri has denied the accusation made by the Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS) politician who claimed that the Direct Governmental Aid (BLSM) was funded by debts. "That's not true," said Chatib at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday, June 3.
Chatib added that the BLSM budget came from the fuel subsidies savings. The minister said that if the BLSM funds came from debts, the government would not have to adjust fuel prices.
The claim over BLSM funds was made by the Budget Council Deputy Chief Tamsil Linrung. The PKS politician said that the Rp 11.6-trillion BLSM funds came from state debts. Tamsil believes that the fact is evident in the expanding figures of the 2013 revised state budget.
