TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) has foiled a methamphetamine smuggling attempt from India. BNN Narcotics Eradication Deputy Chief Insp. Gen. Benny Joshua Mamoto said the 461.3 gram meth was smuggled in packages of spare parts.
"The MO is quite unique. The meth packages from India entered Indonesia in disc spare parts," said Benny during a press conference at the BNN building on Monday, June 3.
Benny said BNN always conducts thorough examination on packages from India or Malaysia. "We examined with x-ray and we found discs in it. There was a difference in color inside the discs; the bluish color suggested a hollow part," said Benny.
The packages were addressed to Budi Hermawan at the Pondok Jati Housing Block AF 14, Sidoarjo, East Jakarta. "Officers then conducted delivery control and secured a woman by the initial F who received the package on Thursday, May 23," Benny explained.
