TEMPO.CO, Bangkok - Twelve bodies were found floating off the coast West of Thailand. The bodies were suspected to be refugees from Myanmar, trying to illegally entered the island, before their boat sank.
Maj. Gen. Taweeporn Churin, a local police official mentioned that the bodies of six men and six women were found nearby the Ranong Province today, after their boat sank on Saturday, June 1.
Previously, local marine police found three female bodies on Saturday, June 1, while 38 other passengers were rescued.
Ranong is located 460 kilometers south of Bangkok, directly bordering Myanmar. Police said that the route is often used by illegal immigrants to enter Thailand.
