TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The charity concert for the tornado victims in Oklahoma, United States, has raised US$6 million (Rp 58.8 billion), which will go for the long-term recovery of the areas hit by the deadly Tornado on May 20, 2013. The funds came from the ticket selling.
The concert was broadcasted live on NBC, May 29, 2013, themed 'Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert' and was hosted by Blake Shelton. "Everyone has their own way to help and we entertainers can help by performing to raise funds and awareness of this tragedy," Shelton said.
The committee had sold concert tickets since May 25, 2013 at the price of US$ 25, apart from public donations. A number of country music stars who are connected with Oklahoma tragedy took part in the concert, such as Shelton, Miranda Lamber, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire and Rascal Flatts.
Other pop-stars such as Usher, Darius Rucker and Lukas Bryan also took part. The committee will then give the funds to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.
