TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi – The releasing of dozens of baby turtles on the shores of Pulau Merah marks the opening of the International Surfing Competition held by the Banyuwangi administration in East Java on Friday, May 24.
The International Surfing Competition which is called "Banyuwangi International Surfing Competition" was scheduled to be opened by the Minister of Youth and Sport and Roy Suryo at 13.00 local time.
125 participants from 20 countries, including Japan, New Zealand, United States and several European countries took part in the competition. "This event was held to introduce Pulau Merah as a tourist destination ib Banyuwangi," said Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas.
