Canada Prioritizes ASEAN in Its Foreign Policy

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-H.E. Mr Donald Bobiash, Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN, presented his Letter of Credentials to H.E. Mr Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat on Monday, April 29.

    The Ambassador claimed that he feels honoured to be accredited as the Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN. He reaffirmed that relationship with ASEAN has been a priority in Canada’s foreign policy. He also expressed Canada’s support for ASEAN Community building efforts by applying concrete cooperation plans and measures.

    Responding to the Ambassador's statement SG Minh conveyed his thanks to Canada, that has become one of the important longstanding Dialogue Partners of ASEAN, for its consistent support to ASEAN in realizing its goals and priorities, including the ASEAN Community building efforts.

    Minh also looked forward to working with Ambassador Bobiash in improving the ASEAN-Canada relationship.

    Ambassador Bobiash and Secretary-General Le Luong Minh also exchanged views on ways to propel the ASEAN-Canada Enhanced Partnership forward to a better direction, as well as on other potential areas of cooperation between the two. ###
