TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Competition between iOS and Android gadgets continues. Following the rumors of launching a cheap version of the iPhone, Apple is now rumored to launch a cheap version of the iPad Mini. According to an analyst from KGI Securities, Ming Chi Kuo, iPad is an important portfolio for Apple.
However, Apple has to adapt with the market. Apple has to make the iPad smaller, 7,9 inch for iPad Mini, and also sell its products in an affordable price. The price of the new iPad is predicted to be around US$ 199 to US$ 249, much cheaper than the regular iPad Mini, which is sold at US$ 329 at the cheapest.
However, with lower price, comes lower specification. Kuo estimated that Apple will reduce the amount of aluminium used in making the iPad casing, use only A5 processor, remove the iPad's the front camera, and will only provide 8 GB memory.
Kuo also stated the the launching of the new iPad will not boost Apple’s sales significantly, but at least the company has the chance to survive in the middle of Android-dominated market.
